Professor Carlos S. Frenk is director of the Institute for Computational Cosmology at Durham University's world-renowned theoretical cosmology research group. Along with international collaborators he builds model universes in state of the art supercomputers, trying to understand how the structures in our universe evolved from simple beginnings to the complex structures composed of stars and galaxies that we see today. Carlos Frenk received the 2017 Max Born Medal and Prize from the German Physical Society for his outstanding contributions to physics. The photograph was taken on the roof of the newly built Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics, Durham University, designed by Studio Libeskind.
